An artist who thrives in interdisciplinary environments, Leah (Lee) Donnelly investigates how to foster sustainable, creative, and accessible spaces using technology. Their work draws from a diverse array of fields—wearable technology, accessible design, media archeology, fine art, philosophy, audio-haptics, and more. Passionate about developing educational, community-driven, and disability-centered initiatives, Lee is always excited to discuss how unique fusions of arts, humanities, and sciences can unearth new pasts, presents, and futures.

CURRENT PROJECTS

In the Summer of 2026, Lee is a prestigious Social Entrepreneurship Fellow partnered with the acoustic microFloats (aFloat) team out of the Applied Physics Laboratory-UW. Lee is currently pursuing a Master’s in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Washington, where they explore topics such as toileting rights, popularization of eugenics, and wearable surveillance architectures. Lee recently received the Pamela E. Yee Gender and Disability Studies Award for their work “Excavating Ugliness.” In their first year as an MA student, Lee presented at three conferences across the country, including the LGBTQ+ History Association's Queer/Trans History Conference. Lee continues to work on their larger book project excavating the wristwatch as a queer media object.
